We are in the Alto Tajo Natural Park, it is located at east of the province of Guadalajara and it has more 100.000 hectares of Pines forests, meadows and swamps, inside the park there are 40 small towns. Among the beautiful landscapes into the park the most of them is "El Hundido de Armallones" the Armallones sunken, a natural canyon around the Tajo river.
It’s the end
of September and the temperatures are begin to descent, the color of some trees
turns orange, others yellow, an others will continue green al year. After one
hour drive from Guadalajara, we arrive at Ocentejo, a small town from where we start
the route. At the same parking we find a
direction sign towards the beginning of the route.
We left town
to the south behind streams and kitchen gardens during some kilometers, further
forward the track runs to the left of the Tajo river around 4km which we can appreciate
the beauty of water travelling around the rocks under us, and the canyon in the
opposite side. After some time walking the road descends into the forest and we
lose sight of the river though we can hear it anyway along 2km more as far as a
valley with an old ruined warehouse to belong to old Salt pan. At this point we
must turn round and go back with same road wich it offer us a new perspective
of such magic landscape. In all this
route are 12 kilometers. Once we arrive at Ocentejo again, we could rest and
have a drink at bar in city hall square.
To finish,
in this video we can get a bird’s-eye view from this marvelous landscape
